* Esta resenha ainda não está disponível em português. Eis a versão em inglês: “Because I is someone else…” (Arthur Rimbaud) The CD starts with Soft Green Exit, an excerpt from Earthphish dance productions, announcing the absolutely hypnotic atmosphere which will be developed through the album. It’s a dark interlude, heavy and aural at the same time. The atmosphere is continued by Golden Boy, where a rock-like instrumentation, balanced on heavy bass lines, gets the perfect complementation on sweet female vocals, sounding dark and melodic. It follows up Complicated. This is such an amazing track. The instrumentation is darkish, but not so heavy as on the previous track. The melody is superb, the vocals tell us much emotion, making it impossible to be described by simple words. Soulcandy is a damn agreeable song, counting upon a nice work on beats, an awesome melody and distorted vocals. The male voice says its first words on the CD, preparing the atmosphere for the upcoming songs. Thus it comes Papa, another interlude with some breakbeat influence, and it fades in Kakhtus Kid. This is a dangerous songs, a battle between soul and body. Sounds of piano illustrate the combat. The next one is Hiding from Skin. It’s a soulful track, slow and intense. A damn nice melody and an awesome instrumentation make of this one of the best downbeat songs I’ve listened to so far. Seedless is chiller. The intensity of the album had been developed till get a climax moment with the previous track. This one comes as a necessary pause. It’s time to relax on an agreeable chilled lounge. Falling Asleep is another interlude, cinematic, mysterious, filled with industrial and obscure noises. It follows up Birthday Child, an amazing track. Great vocals perform a sweet melody, while nice beats and heavy bass lines give it a fantastic texture. Nuclear Star is darker, a mix between aggressive and calm vibes, represented by the contrast between male and female vocals, like a fusion of heaven and hell. This is our human paradox, and here it is a conclusion toward the end. The last one is Cleaning, an interlude. Beyond the darkness there’s some light. So relax… (But not that much! Take care, ‘cause your whole life can change all of a sudden…) Yes, you don’t know where life is gonna take you, but the way is plenty of beauty... That’s Earthphish. They present us the surreal through their music, revealing a non ordinary kind of beauty (an escape from reality). Yes, it could be like a Salvador Dali’s painting. There is fear, there is pain, there are emotions, feelings…, and specially beauty. Fire, Water and Earth… phish! The result is that, a mix which translates to music an apparently paradoxical splendour. Realize, I said ‘apparently’, because they know exactly what they are doing. Well, I guess you prefer me to say something more objective than keep myself on divagating. Ok. My words are: this is a damn amazing album, what is not exactly surprising for internet users (and I include myself here), those who have visited their site before. But if you haven't, don't waste more time, don't miss it out, go there and get in touch with them! One of the best of 2003, Soft Green Exit is just an essential album, a vehement recommendation for every trip-hopper. Anyway, you have been warned. This is not a safe world. Quoting Rimbaud again, “I is someone else”. Nope, there’s no mistake there. I am not, I is… You can’t control what’s inside of you, what’s inside controls you. This album is a battle between the beauty and the beast. On the end, you win.... (Ah, course, if everything fades out, don’t give up, some words will tell you the end…, even if u cannot understand at all what they mean to say… One’s life is a story which can be told on books. This album is a book.) (to Earthphish: please!, gimme more of this! I feel trip-hop is alive...)
