* Esta resenha ainda não está disponível em português. Eis a versão em inglês: Oh well, here I am and I don't know how to start. And there are more than a couple of reasons for that. But the main ones are: a) It's so easy to write about this album; b) Oh, and it is so hard to write about it... I'll start asking: who the hell is Rekhmire?! Deviant Lounge starts with Crack Circus. Rekhmire does not waste time and right on this first track he presents his visit card. Oh yes, the first thing you will pay attention to is exactly the thing that will make you get addicted on it (ops, this is already an advisory): the beats! Jazzy textures spread around the ambient (yet, it will last during the whole album), creating a phenomenal and hypnotic lounge atmosphere. Probably for some personal reasons, I feel also some capoeira music influence on this track (which can be just an african music influence). Nice? Oh yeah, that nice! The second track is Sun Session. If the Sun is there, I'd say it is a sunset. At least as beautiful as (and obscure). This track is darker. The beats get here an industrial influence, but with the same jazzy vibe. It comes up Bass Makr. The atmosphere is being constantly developed, and the beats on this song follow the direction. My God yes!, Rekhmire just knows how to make it! The fourth one is Ch Pr. The beats here are a climax on the CD. Yes, I know I am being redundant, and I will be even more. That's why it is hard to write about this album (but I think it's necessary to say it, how many times I feel like...). This song is such amazing... So we are here, this is just the 4th track and the spell is already finished! Finished? Yup, I mean: no way to get rid of it anymore... The state is of trance. The hypnosis is complete. It follows up Jazz Attack. This track receives a stronger upbeat influence. It sounds more aggressive, and the atmosphere created seems dangerous. Just like if something unknown is about to happen... The names says it all: it's an attack. So it comes Real Control. The album remains intense, but gets a break now. This is a slower track. If the album was already darkish, it will get even darker from here on out. Another perfect track name. There's a real control on this moment... Soleil Vert continues the insinuation (yes, deviant...). It's dark, the beats are deep. The CD starts a kind of second phase. The rhythm gets slower, even if the energy remains the same. Yes we have a lounge. On Super Natural the mood is continued. Some industrial elements fill the darkness here. I feel it's night. Oh yes, and this is the chill out. The chilled atmosphere is moved forward on the next tracks. Now we have the 9th one: Deserted Land. The ambient gets a 'plus'. On the beginning of the CD a paradox could be found (an excellent paradox by the way). At the same time you could feel the lounge vibes, you could feel like dancing. Yup, there was some good upbeat influence and dancing the first tracks was something possible. Now we have a chilled ambient, and the music and you are everything that exist. Rest, chill, find yourself... That's Htus. the 11th track. Shti Bou is the next one. This song is superb. Totally chilled, totally hypnotic, totally awesome. The last one is Time Travellers, concluding and closing the CD with a 'golden key'. So yes... I ask again: who is Rekhmire? He's for sure one of the greatest novelties of 2003. I personally got very... very impressed. I'd say Rekhmire is the King of the Beats. Do you wanna listen to some of the best beats ever programmed? Here you are! Do you have a lounge bar? Play this album! Do you make electronic music? Listen to it and get influenced! Do you simply like downbeat? Listen to it and enjoy it! If you like instrumental downbeat, this is an essential album for you. I'm not afraid at all to say Rekhmire is one of the greatest revelations, maybe the most, of 2003, and The Deviant Lounge is one of the best albums of the year. What are you waiting? Get your copy now! There is Pelican City, there is Bonobo, there is Mr. Scruff..., Kid Koala, Cinematic Orchestra, Amon Tobin, Coldcut... And now there is Rekhmire... (Yup, right beside the great names on the genre...)
